More About the Event

Witches and Warlocks Paddle always has a great turnout. For 2024, organizers estimate that around 500 paddlers will get in the water to make the enchanted journey around the bay dressed in their bewitched garments. Another 1,500 attendees are expected to show up as spectators to the whimsy and magic that's brewing on the water! However, organizers don't have a clear head count for the event simply because there's no official registration process. The event is 100% free and open to anyone who would like to participate.

The famous Witches and Warlocks Paddle event in Morro Bay began in 2013 as an informal gathering of friends. Over the years, the event's popularity has caused it to grow into one of the most celebrated fall events in Morro Bay. This event is intended for experienced paddlers only. No instruction or guidance will be provided to participants who decide to paddle out into the water. Participants are responsible for their safety during the event. While there are no specific requirements for equipment or safety gear, Witches and Warlocks Paddle event organizers strongly recommend that participants follow all Coast Guard requirements for personal flotation devices.
