Once you’re done exploring all the great things to do in Morro Bay, it’s time to rest up and eat up! When you stay at the Blue Sail Inn, you’re within walking distance to many local eateries in historic Downtown Morro Bay. However, sometimes you may want to relax in your spacious room and watch the sunset overlooking Morro Rock. If that’s the case, there are plenty of takeout food options in Morro Bay to satisfy your hunger!
Woodstock’s Pizza
Commonly known as “SLO,” San Luis Obispo’s town is a short drive from Morro Bay. Woodstock’s Pizza was voted the #1 Independent Pizzeria in the nation, and they live up to that title. Originally opening at a storefront in Oregon, the company’s second location opened in SLO in 1980. Now, the pizzeria has several areas around California but remains locally operated. What sets them apart from other pizzerias is that they use fresh ingredients and a fold-over crust with sauce baked inside.
Their menu includes customizable pizzas with sauce choices like their signature secret tomato sauce, pesto, creamy garlic, BBQ, and southern chipotle. There are also various signature options like the SLO Classic with mushrooms, olives, pepperoni, sausage, or the BBQ Bird, including BBQ sauce, chicken, onions, and bacon. Order online and have it picked up or delivered.
Thai Elephant
Thai Elephant is located in downtown Morro Bay and is a staple in the area. They are known for their large selection of curries and other traditional Thai dishes like Pad Thai Noodles, Tom Kha Chicken, and Thai fried rice. They offer many seafood options to add to their noodle and fried rice dishes like calamari, shrimp, and fish, as well as pork and chicken options. They also are known for their lunch specials that you can get daily until 3 pm. The specials come with soup, salad, white rice, and your entree choice with chicken or pork. They are close by so you can enjoy a nice walk or drive to pick up your meal.
Taco Temple
Taco Temple started as a small takeout place in Cayucos in 1997. When lines began to wrap around the building, the owners moved to a larger location that could accommodate a full dining experience, opening in Morro Bay shortly after. They expanded to a second location in San Luis Obispo in 2018.
Taco Temple offers classic Mexican fare like the Temple Nachos, Chile Rellenos, enchiladas, and fajitas, along with other traditional dishes, including tostadas, burritos, and street tacos. They also offer new favorites, like The Kind Veggie Burrito, Ceviche, and Calamari Tacos, plus a wide variety of tacos, burritos, and fajitas made to order with local and fresh seafood.
Flavor Factory
Located on Quintana Road in Morro Bay, the Flavor Factory has all the makings of a classic pub. They were recently awarded for having the best burger in California’s Central Coast by The Best of California. Their classic burgers are served with homemade macaroni salad or hand-cut fries. Their menu includes traditional options like bacon cheeseburgers and veggie burgers, but they have some not-so-common options like the Towering Inferno, The Hangover, and the Avocado Burger. They also serve up a variety of local beers and wines from the Central Coast and Monterey.
